I have had the fortune to present at several events: STEMtech 2014 on Flipped Classrooms, WTCS Assessment Conference on Assessment and Technology, SLATE 2012 on Flipping Middle School Math, and NISOD Webinar on Instructor Preparation Academy at NWTC.
Prior to my role at NWTC, I was a middle school math teacher for 8 school years throughout Wisconsin; 2 years with the Southern Door County School District in beautiful Door County and 6 years with Lomira School District. I primarily taught 8 Grade Mathematics via a Flipped Classroom using video to record lectures and build authentic learning experiences with in my classroom.
My goal in education is to continually provide opportunities for students to become better problem solvers, critical thinkers, analyzers, and team members. I strived to find ways to help them create individualized learning plans that helped them become better in all that they do.
I currently hold a Masters of Arts in Education: Educational Technology from Marian University, and a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Beyond my roll at the college, I soak up as much time as I can get with my family. My wife, Melissa of 9 years, is also an educator. We have three amazing children. Dylan is 8, Abby is 6, and Drew is 2. My wife and I are involved in our coaching or leading our children, active at our church, and enjoy the rush and thrill of competing in races. We love playing cribbage, bike rides, and camping.
My children definitely keep me busy. Dylan is a sportsman to the core...if it has to do with sports, he loves it. He also enjoys playing the piano, being in plays, and reading any book. Abby on the other hand, is our spontaneous, off-the-wall, spit fire. She loves her dancing and gymnastics and is constantly in a dress no matter what the temperature is outside. Drew is the young, independent two-year old that wants to do everything his brother and sister do. He's the life of the party, and he knows it.
